What is Eagles Rendezvous?
Eagles Rendezvous (ER) is a Bible study ministry of Eagles Communications that reaches out to Christians.
A specific biblical book is studied in cycles, each cycle lasting six to seven weeks. Led by trained leaders of Eagles Communications, these studies are designed to be informal and interactive, with emphasis on the application of the biblical text to the pressing issues of life today.
Original study notes will guide group members through the process of understanding and applying the Bible. The biblical text will be examined inductively with the following questions addressed sequentially: "What does it say?", "What does it mean?" and "How does it apply to us now?"
You will be spiritually enriched and empowered by:
- Understanding and appreciating the Bible
- Learning fresh insights from theologically trained teachers
- Covering systematically OT and NT books, especially difficult passages
- Applying yourself to the truths of God's word in own life's situations and circumstances
- Using the OIA method of Bible study - Observation, Interpretation & Application.
Eagles Communications is committed to teaching the Word intentionally and relevantly to help us experience the Word for ourselves. We seek to build a community of biblically-minded followers of Christ.
Every generation in the history of the church has acknowledged the pivotal place of Romans. Martin Luther considered Romans to be "the purest gospel." He went on to say that: "it is worthy that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but also that he should occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul."
John Calvin, another Reformer, wrote that if we have gained a true understanding of this Epistle, "we have an open door to all the most profound treasures of Scripture."
Augustine of Hippo was converted through the reading of a passage from Romans. John Wesley’s conversion could be traced back to hearing Luther’s Preface to Romans. Karl Barth acknowledged that coming to grips with the message of Romans led him out of theological liberalism to a more fruitful period of biblical theology.
Paul’s chief emphasis in Romans is God’s justification of sinners by grace, in Christ, through faith. The sweep of Paul’s gospel is cosmic and eternal, and yet reaches to the existential and the individual. Its repercussions ripple from time to eternity, transform people and society, bear implications for personal conduct and social behavior. Paul’s letter plumbs the depth of Divine Rationale and yet lifts the human soul to the bosom of God, to be released back to transform life on earth.
No wonder Paul asserts he is not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God… How long has it been since you felt the explosive power of the gospel in your soul? How conscious are you of the guiding pull of the gospel in your life choices and direction? It may be time to re-order our lives by yielding to the Cosmic Shattering Power of the Gospel and stand firm and tall in the Grace of God!
